Heading to New Orleans
So J and I are going to be in St. Louis for Christmas (our hometown) and then New Orleans until New Year's. I've been to NO for Mardi Gras (in 2005) but I didn't get to do touristy things then - other than party. So, does anyone out there have any suggestions for what to do in New Orleans? We're staying in the French Quarter...

If you like zoos, then I highly recommend the Audubon Zoo. It's way up on Magazine Street, and you can take the streetcar up to Audubon Park and cut through to the zoo, or you can take the #11 bus that goes up Magazine (if it still runs). It's my favorite zoo in the U.S.
I don't know what all is still standing post-Katrina (I was last there right AFTER Mardi Gras '05), but if you want to buy yarn Quarter Stitch on Chartres is still there. :-)
I would say to just chill and enjoy the scenery. The architecture is some of the most gorgeous on the continent!
